Community Reports
In order to gain a better understanding of student attitudes and actions relating to at-risk behaviors, Brookfield CARES works closely with the Brookfield Public Schools to survey students in grades ranging from 6 to 12 every few years. We’ve surveyed students 7 times since 2009. Our 2025 effort — the most recent — surveyed students in grades 8—12.
The survey — developed by Search Institute and taken by over 6 million students nationwide — is a secure process that protects student anonymity while providing valuable data in a wide range of areas including alcohol and drug use, depression and suicide, gambling, vaping, safety, online behavior (for the first time), and more.
We make results of the Survey available in a variety of ways, including presentations to the Board of Education and the Board of Selectmen.
Developmental Assets
Search Institute also reports results as Developmental Assets — a research-based framework that shows a clear relationship between high asset scores and thriving behaviors.
Community Reports
In October of 2023 Brookfield CARES held an interactive Community Conversation with members of the community on how e can work collaboratively to build assets in our town.
Positive Assets in the Schools
While we are working to increase assets within our community, we know that there are a lot of important efforts currently under way. Click here to see a list of activities with the Brookfield schools that are an important part of asset building.
