Developmental Assets

Search Institute has identified 40 positive supports and strengths that young people need to succeed. These are called Developmental Assets. Half of the assets focus on the relationships and opportunities they need in their families, schools, and communities (external assets). The remaining assets focus on the social-emotional strengths, values, and commitments that are nurtured within young people (internal assets). Brookfield Cares and the Brookfield Public Schools work together in a variety of ways, including surveying attitudes and behaviors of students in grades 7–12 using Search Institute’s survey.  This provides us with regular feedback that allows for data-driven decisions on how to best approach these complex and ever changing issues.
